RIVER BEACHES

Only a 10 minute drive from Casa Rosa and 30 minutes drive from Casa Vales is the stunning river Zêzere. Views of the river from the hills above
are nothing short of stunning.

The Zêzere River is a tributary of the river Tagus.
It rises in the Serra da Estrela, near the Torre, the highest point of continental Portugal.
The Zêzere runs through the town Manteigas, and passes
south of the city of Covilhã. It flows into the Tagus in Constância.

 

Around the river are numerous towns and villages.
Foz de Alge is a perfect spot for taking in the beautiful scenery.
Here there are 3 cafés where you can enjoy a drink or meal whilst admiring the stunning view up river.
The river has a small beach where you can picnic, relax and enjoy
the sun in beautiful surroundngs or take a swim in the clear fresh river water.

Further down the river is another beach at São Simão.
At this part of the river it is much smaller and offers a different
kind of beauty.
It is surrounded by ridges of rock and has its own picnic area
where you can enjoy its tranquility.


Lago Azul (Blue Lake) is a short drive from Casa Rosa and very close to the picturesque town of Ferreira do Zêzere. The perfect location for adventure and relaxation. This beautiful location offers water sports e.g. jet skiing, canoeing, and boat trips for the energetic, and beach areas for those that wish to relax and take in the stunning surroundings.

There is the river swimming pools for adults and children to enjoy or top up your tan on the floating sun terrace.

There is a waterfront café / restaurant where you can sample Portuguese cuisine, take a picnic and sit by the clear waters of the lake at the stone picnic tables provided.
